JODIE BARKER
How many years have you been in Triathlon? 10 years.
Why did you start? I started running at high school to loose weight for my Debutante Ball, and things happened from there! Ran for about 4 years, then thought I might try a duathlon and then a few months later a challenger distance race (approx 30mins). The race distances have increased over the years, but my joy and satisfaction is still there. I train and race by the following philosophy, “Inches make a champion, so never give up!”
What's your favourite race? Sprint distance race at Mordialloc (home turf for me).
What's your favourite leg? Run.
If you could win one event in the world what would it be? Australian or Hawaii Ironman (like that’s gonna happen!)
What's your favourite drink? Coffee or water (the hard stuff).
What's your best race? Australian IM 2005, Hawaii IM 2004.
Is there something you eat which you shouldn't? Mmmm... I eat just about anything (except pumpkin).
Who is your idol? Dawn Fraser, champion swimmer and role model for female athletes.
What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you in a race?
If you could change anything in Triathlon what would it be? Drafting, too much of it happening, stricter “draft busters”.
If you could have any kind of car what would it be? A red car, cos they go fast….
