JODIE SCOTT
How many years have you been in Triathlon? 11 years.
Why did you start? I got talked into it! I came from a competitive swimming background and competed in Surf Lifesaving and the Devondale Ironwoman series. I wanted to compete in a sport where no luck was involved (don't believe in luck!) and the race result was reflective of the work you had put in. I bought a bike while I was still competing in the Ironwoman series and it just sat in the garage. I eventually decided to give it a go and did my first triathlon in 1995 when I was living on the Gold Coast. One race and I was hooked!
What's your favourite race? Noosa Triathlon and Ironman Australia, the atmosphere is amazing!
What's your favourite leg? I enjoy the run (when I'm fit), however the swim is easiest for me.
If you could win one event in the world what would it be? Hawaii Ironman.
What's your favourite drink? Coffee, Champagne and Vodka Red Bulls!
What's your best race? Australian Sprint Distance 1997 - 2nd Junior Elite; QLD Long Course 1997 - 1st; QLD Duathlon Champs 1997 - 2nd.
Is there something you eat which you shouldn't? Dairy and wheat/gluten products, I love them but my body doesn't.
Who is your idol? I luv Lance Armstrong. Also, Paula Newby Fraser & Karen Smyers - tough chicks!
What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you in a race? I'm usually in too much pain to find anything funny! I received a few funny comments from fellow competitors at Ironman that made me laugh. One of them when I was trying to run up a hill towards the end of the marathon. Not ideal, it was hard enough!
If you could change anything in Triathlon what would it be? Profile of the sport in Australia, needs more support/sponsorship.
If you could have any kind of car what would it be? Porche 911 and BMW X5 for the bike!
